CMC Alert system begins testing

Update your personal contact information for emergency & weather messages

Early warning system: CMC Alert needs your contact information to send weather and emergency messages.

Be sure to get the Alert! Colorado Mountain College will soon test and deploy CMC Alert, the notification system designed to notify students and employees about emergencies or weather closures. When there is an on-campus emergency or classes are canceled due to weather, this system will send email, voice mail and text messages to the affected students.

The system will be tested with system administrators on September 15. Following that, a college-wide test message will be sent to students and employees on September 29.

Be part of the test. Update your information today! In the event of an emergency or unexpected

campus closure, you will only receive a CMC ALERT message if your cell phone numbers and email addresses are accurately listed in the college system.

Employees:

  • Login to WebAdvisor
  • Select your section (Faculty, or Employees)
  • Under “User Account,” click on “MyProfile-Contact Update” ( The “My Profile” screen displays your current information.)
  • Select “Click Here to update Profile”

Right now, the “update your contact information” link is working only if
you login directly to WebAdvisor, but not if you go in via the MyCMC. This issue is being addressed.

Students: Contact the front desk staff at the campus you are attending.

This system will only be used to distribute information regarding emergencies that require immediate action. It will not be used for marketing messages or non-urgent communication. An emergency is a situation that poses an immediate risk to the health and safety of the campus community or significantly disrupts its programs and activities.

Examples of CMC Alert emergencies include:

  • cancellation of classes due to a fire, flood
  • unexpected road closures
  • evacuation of buildings
  • an ongoing criminal incident
  • severe weather.

The alert message will direct you where to find more information or learn what action to take. Less urgent messages will be sent using the college’s e-mail system. Following a warning, the alert system will be used to provide additional messages or an “all clear” announcement.
