From left, Owen O’Farrell as Richard, Brad Moore as Ivan, J.D. Miller as Sharky, Brendan Cochran as Nicky and Gary Ketzenbarger as Mr. Lockhart have an evening to remember in “The Seafarer.” The Sopris Theatre Company production will run Dec. 2-11 at Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley.

Described as a kind of modern Irish ghost story, “The Seafarer” promises audience members equal doses of Celtic folklore, the supernatural and the power of myth.

Sopris Theatre Company’s next production by Conor McPherson is a dark Irish comedy and Christmas tale that follows Sharky as he returns to Dublin to look after his older brother who’s recently gone blind. A night playing poker with a group of old drinking buddies turns into an evening none of them expect – especially when a mysterious stranger shows up.

“The Seafarer” features Brendan Cochran, Gary Ketzenbarger, J.D. Miller, Brad Moore and Owen O’Farrell, and is directed by G. Thomas Cochran.

Because of mature content, this play is recommended only for audiences over the age of 16.

Curtain is 7 p.m. on Dec. 2-3 and 8-10, and 2 p.m. on Dec. 4 and 11. Tickets are $18 for adults, and $13 for students, seniors, and CMC staff and faculty.
