Sopris Theatre Company, formerly CMC Theatre, is presenting the comedy, “Anton in Show Business,” written by Jane Martin. This play-within-a-play, which pokes fun at theatrical life, focuses on a Texas drama company attempting to produce “The Three Sisters” by 19th century Russian playwright Anton Chekhov.

Casey, played by Cassidy Willey, is auditioning for one of the three sisters’ roles. Joining her is Lisabette (portrayed by Ciara Morrison), a former third-grade teacher dreaming of becoming an actress, and Holly (Kelly Ketzenbarger), a TV actress whose agent convinces her that acting in a classic play will land her major movie roles.

“Anton in Show Business” won the 2001 American Theatre Critics Steinberg New Play Award and is appropriate for mature audiences. Sopris Theatre Company’s production, directed by Gary Ketzenbarger, will be performed at 7 p.m. on Feb. 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27, and at 2 p.m. on Feb. 21 and 28. Tickets are $18 for adults, $13 for seniors and students, and $10 for CMC faculty and staff, and are available at 947-8177 or svticketsales@coloradomtn.edu.
