Colorado Mountain College in Aspen is inviting area residents to make a difference in their neighbor’s lives by donating gently used warm coats and dollars to a campus-sponsored coat drive between November 23rd and December 18th.
CMC in Aspen is partnering with One Warm Coat, a national non-profit organization, to bring the coat drive to campus. The organization works with local registered ambassadors to provide free, warm coats to any person in need by providing the tools and resources needed to hold a successful coat drive. Since its inception in 1992, One Warm Coat has worked with its volunteers and registered ambassadors to give away over four million coats. According to the organization’s statistics, forty-five million Americans are currently living in poverty; One Warm Coat works to provide warm coats they may not be able to afford.
Coats that are collected in CMC Aspen’s coat drive will go to the Aspen Homeless Shelter. Any overflow donations will be shared with other valley organizations to distribute to local children and adults in need. The process is simple: drop off your extra coat(s) at the CMC in Aspen campus, and college staff takes care of the rest.
