VAIL — The board of the United Way of Eagle River Valley has appointed Rebecca Kanaly as executive director, replacing Karen Lechner, effective Dec. 1. As executive director, Kanaly is tasked with expanding United Way’s leadership presence, reach and impact in our community by providing increased opportunities to, and by working strategically with, local nonprofits who are demonstrating excellence in service.
Kanaly has lived in Vail since 2006 after leaving a career in Denver with an award-winning custom home builder. She has co-founded several organizations in Colorado and served on the executive boards of Cancer League of Colorado, Eagle Valley Senior Life and Helmet Heads. Additionally, she has provided consulting to Wapiyapi Cancer Camps and, as a Daniel’s Consulting firm project manager to the city and county of Denver. A top graduate of the inaugural class of the Bachelor of Science in business administration degree program at Colorado Mountain College in Edwards, she is now an Executive MBA candidate at the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business.
“I am so thrilled for this opportunity to join the United Way team as a leader in serving our mission of connecting people and resources to address the needs of our community,” Kanaly said. “I am eagerly joining an engaged and dynamic board that is energized about our plans for 2015. United Way of Eagle River Valley will be working closely with and supporting groups who are leaders in effectively serving the people of our community. Additionally, I plan to support the achievements of my predecessors in further developing key relationships that bring together donors, volunteers, advocates and impactful community groups.”
“On behalf of the board, I thank Karen for her many contributions and wish her the best,” said John Genova, United Way president. “Rebecca will be a tremendous addition to our team. In addition to her passion for helping those in need, her experiences as the treasurer and co-founder of Eagle Valley Senior Life, a collaborator with the Eagle County government, retired seniors, the Vail Pastor’s Network, the Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy and the Vail Public Library will enable Rebecca to be an immediate and significant contributor to our cause.”
