The students took part in a recent study abroad course through Colorado Mountain College, earning 6 college credits in art and political science during the nine-day, intensive program in Guatemala. In Thursday’s presentation, they will use stories, photographs and examples of traditional weaving to demonstrate the intersections of art and politics in the context of Guatemala’s Mayan majority and the country’s 36-year civil war.

The presentation is free and open to the public. Handmade Guatemalan crafts and fair-trade Guatemalan coffee will be on sale to benefit a scholarship fund for students at a nonprofit school in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Guatemala City.
