VAIL, Colorado — Pamela K. Rice passed away peacefully on Friday at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction.

Pamela was born April 17, 1949, in Seattle, Washington to Richard and Dorothy Rice and grew up in Champaign-Urbana, Ill. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois, in Urbana, and earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego. She also completed advanced negotiation and conflict resolution training from the Harvard Negotiation Project.

Pam was a longtime resident of Vail, Glenwood Springs and San Diego. She traveled extensively and worked as a professor of criminal justice with Colorado Mountain College, a conflict resolution specialist, and corporate executive. She taught primarily at Spring Valley, supporting both the Criminal Justice degree and the Colorado Law Enforcement Academy (CLETA). She is remembered by many for her constant smile and positive attitude.
