Public invited to meet Walter Isaacson and learn about CMC’s new school in Aspen and Glenwood Springs
On July 18 Colorado Mountain College will celebrate the Dedication Day of its new Isaacson School for New Media, with numerous events at the Aspen District Theatre.
Free events open to the public are:
• 9:30-11:30 a.m.: Dedication ceremony, featuring Walter Isaacson, Colorado Mountain College President Dr. Stan Jensen, Jim Calaway and special guests. Isaacson will give a keynote address, followed by a question-and-answer session.
•11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.: Reception honoring Walter Isaacson and showcase of participating entries in the inaugural Youth Digital Media Contest
•12:45-1:45 p.m.: Isaacson School Future Forum – A panel discussion of the promise and future vision of the Isaacson School featuring faculty, community partners and youth
Aspen’s City Council has declared July 18 “Colorado Mountain College Isaacson School for New Media Day,” in honor of the college’s vital role in the education and economy of Aspen and the state, as well as the Isaacson School’s mission to prepare students for digital journalism, marketing and design, and media production.
Credit classes in the new program start the week of Aug. 27, with professional development workshops also being offered this fall. Applications and information are available online at coloradomtn.edu/newmedia.
