CMC Leadville hosts annual Rail Jam event at new location
Students and terrain park enthusiasts will be excited to learn that this year’s Rail Jam event will be in a brand new location: The backyard freestyle terrain park. The backyard freestyle terrain park at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville is located directly behind the Mountain View Residence Hall, with views of Mt Elbert and Mt Massive, the two highest peaks in Colorado.
The 11th Annual Cloud City Rail Jam is an event entirely put on by the Ski Area Operations Event Management Class, as part of their curriculum and class project. Students are involved in this event from inception to completion, and are responsible for everything from designing and building the features to obtaining sponsorships and prizes.
This year’s sponsors are Melanzana, Christy Sports, Kickin Chicken Wax, Slope Style, MotoAdventure, Weston Snowboards, LumberYard, and Unity Snowboards – with more being added daily. Awards go to the best overall male and female competitor in each discipline – skiing and snowboarding.
This is an all ages, dog friendly event and is open to the public. There will be live music provided by Mastodon Sound, food and beverages available for purchase, and swag goody bags for a few lucky spectators. Registration begins at 11:30am on Saturday, March 28th and the entry fee for competitors is $15.
