1000 Words!
Colorado Mountain College faculty, administrators and students recently participated in a daylong summit with outdoor industry leaders at Morgridge Commons in Glenwood Springs. Heading up a panel discussion were, from left, Steve Skadron, mayor of Aspen; Ann Baker Easley, executive director of Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado; Amy Roberts, executive director of the Outdoor Industry Association; Jen McLaren, president and CEO of Smartwool; Len Zanni, co-owner and head of marketing of Big Agnes; John LeCoq, founder and owner of Fishpond; and moderator Luis Benitez, executive director of the Colorado Recreation Industry Office. In the background is a mural from renowned photographer John Fielder, who also spoke at the summit (and is seated at the lower left in this photo). The summit was the culmination of meetings held throughout CMC’s district, at which college representatives asked outdoor industry leaders about ways CMC can better train and educate students for careers in the field. Colorado Mountain College was recently named Top Adventure College by Elevation Outdoors Magazine for its numerous educational opportunities in outdoor recreation and natural resource management, and its proximity to many year-round adventure-based locations.
